You're correct Buffy. Has two sensors one on top and one on the bottom which is hard to see in the pic.
getting closer
one of those sender wires goes to the automatic
the other sender is for the temp gauge on the dash
#
pop one connection off to find the gauge sender
leave the automatic temp wire off and see if it makes a difference
